Rating the Black Bear Duathlon

I wanted to give my rating on this first year event with some personal comments.

On a scale of 1-5 (with 5 being the best):

  1. Website: 3 (nice site but not updated enough and I like a participants list)
  2. Race Venue: 5 (Waterville is a great place for any event)
  3. Schwag and T-shirt: 1 (no schwag and the t-shirt was crummy)
  4. Transition Area: 4 (easy to navigate and in a nice area)
  5. Run Course: 5 (really like the variety and overall feeling of the course)
  6. Bike Course: 4 (nice course, but boring)
  7. Course Support: 2 (there was little support and would have been easy to cheat)
  8. Post Race Food: 1 (only soup and had to wait for 45 minutes to get any)
  9. Fan Friendly: 3 (definitely had a chance to see family 6 different times)
  10. Overall Race Feel: 2 (first race, organized but only 30 people and not much going on)

Total (out of 50 points): 30 out of 50

For a first year race, it was nice. However, they need to add the little things to make it an event. I think they would like to take it to the next level, but we will see.
