Men Are from Mars, But I Use a Venus

Well, I am back at it...training that is. With training, comes some sacrifices and some other "things" that I need to do to get in the right frame of mind.

Of course the amount of training increases. I now have food cravings (see my blog entry on Coke). I am trying to find partners to workout with whenever possible (more on that in another entry). And I am back to shaving my legs on a regular basis.

Yes, I shave my legs.

I started doing this a few years ago and have continued with it. My personality dictates that once I started shaving my legs that I would keep doing it. I had read and heard that cyclists shave their legs and figured if they do, then I should do it as well. Maybe it will make me faster, stronger and be able to intimidate the competition.

I tried Nair for Men, but it really didn't work that well (I got it in a goody bag). I tried disposables but they didn't do the trick. I even tried my razors I used on my face, but again, no luck. I final stumbled upon the "Venus" razor. Once I taught myself how to properly prepare my legs with soap and water, the Venus did the rest. Once I saw the finished product, I was hooked on the "look".

Now, I hate body hair in general. I hate shaving my face and would prefer short hair on my head. Clean shaven looks, well, clean. I felt faster and sleeker in the water, on the bike and on the run. Whether I was or not was irrelevant, I FELT faster. I think it was also helpful getting the wetsuit off in transition.

I have been able to withstand the comments about my legs. I have been told that I women would love to have my legs. I am not sure if that is a good thing, but I will take it as a compliment. I have been picked on for having smooth legs, but I think they are just jealous. Even my dad gives me a hard time now and again. I just smile and shake it off.

Unfortunately the Venus has caused more conflict in my house. I have to battle the wife to use it and at times have to hide "my" blades to insure a smooth and clean shave...for my legs. Shhh, don't tell her!

Anyway, me and my Venus have bonded. If you see some stubble, be assured that it will be taken care of very soon. And, if you whistle at me, I will know why!

this post was worth the 4 month hiatus! i have some shave cream you might like to try, it's now regular shaving cream, more of a lotion.
